摘要
e14706 Background: Carcinoid tumors are the most common tumors of the small intestine. There has been an increased incidence of this small intestinal cancer, but it is underrepresented in research studies. The aim of our study is to compare the characteristics and survival rates of carcinoid tumors outcome in duodenum (D-NESIT), ileum (I-NESIT) and jejunum (J-NESIT) using the SEER database. Methods: We analyzed a retrospective cohort of patients diagnosed with carcinoid tumors of small intestine in the SEER National Cancer Registry from 1991 through 2010. Univariate analysis was done using t-test and chi-square tests. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to evaluate risk adjusted outcomes and to determine the significant covariates of the hazard of dying. Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate the survival function. Results: We included 7,133 patients in our study. Caucasians had more NESIT compared to other races (74.6% vs. 25.4%). The majority of patients had ileal NESIT as compared to duoden...
