10532 Background: Resected localized GISTs exhibit a wide range of biological behavior from low to high risk of recurrence. Risk categories (low, intermediate and high) are built from mitotic count, size and location. However, the molecular mechanism related to GIST relapse has not yet been fully clarified. The purpose of this study is to characterize miRNA expression profile in high risk GIST patients for both, recurred and not recurred, and detect those differentially expressed in these two subsets. Methods: Twelve cases of high risk intestinal GIST, 6 with relapse and 6 without relapse, were selected for this analysis. Sections were obtained for RNA extraction using the miRNeasy FFPE kit (Qiagen) and miRNA was hybridized to the GeneChip miRNA 3.0 Array (Affymetrix) including more than 1800 human miRNA.
