Promotional effect of CeO2 on the propene poisoning resistance of HBEA zeolite catalyst for NH3-SCR of NOx

•Ce/HBEA catalysts show excellent NH3-SCR activity in the presence of propene.•The addition of CeO2 improves the hydrocarbon resistance of HBEA catalyst.•HBEA was coated by CeO2 forming a core-shell structure for Ce48/HBEA catalyst.•Propene was oxidized to CO, CO2 and H2O by CeO2 shell.
