摘要
•The crack deflection because of the presence of an aggregate was investigated.•A finite element model of a three-point bending cracked specimen was created.•Maximum tangential stress criterion were applied.•A multi-parameter form of the criterion (using the Williams expansion) was tested.•The elastic mismatch between the matrix and the aggregate is strongly limiting.
