摘要

•The prevalence of the lateral and posterolateral foramina of the atlas was studied.•A total of 33 studies (n=10,190 subjects) were included in the meta-analysis.•The pooled prevalences of complete LF and PLF were 2.6% and 1.2%, respectively.•The pooled prevalences of incomplete LF and PLF were 2.7% and 0.7%, respectively.•The LF and PLF should be considered in diagnosis of various neurological conditions.
