Long-Term Echocardiogram Monitoring And Cardiac Outcomes Of Childhood Cancer Survivors With Exposure To High Doses Of Anthracyclines

9576 Background: Improvements in therapy for childhood cancer has increased overall survival and decreased long term toxicities for most survivors; however, some children will still require substantial therapy to achieve cure. These contemporary survivors, in addition to past survivors, are at risk for cardiac complications including cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, and valvular heart disease. Risk factors include anthracyclines and radiation therapy. Methods: A retrospective review of survivors in our CCHMC Cancer Survivor Program was performed. All patients were diagnosed = 5 years out from diagnosis and received at least 350mg/m2 of anthracyclines. Cardiac dysfunction was assessed by ECHO shortening fraction (SF <30%) or MUGA ejection fraction (EF <60%). Demographic and treatment variables were also examined.
