摘要

•No VHL mutation in cfDNA from RCC patients was detected using next generation sequencing.•Whereas a specific VHL mutation was successfully detected when using a highly sensitive Taqman assay.•Highly sensitive detection methods and prior knowledge of the mutation are required for liquid biopsies in renal cancer.
