摘要
Background: Severe asthma has multiple phenotypes and clinical outcomes. The aim of this study was to identify markers related to uncontrolled severe asthma in children. Methods: A prospective cohort study wasconducted. Clinical, functional and inflammatory characteristics were obtained including induced sputum, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and cytokines levels. Results: Forty patients with severe asthma (mean age 12.8 (±2.87) year)were studied. Thirteen (32%) had uncontrolled severe asthma according ATS/ERS guideline after 3 months of follow-up.There was no statistically significant difference in gender, BMI, atopy, serum IgE, FeNO, sinus diseases, gastroesophageal reflux and lung functional between the two groups. The quality of life questionnaire (pAQLQ) were lower in the uncontrolled group (p 3%): 80% in the controlled versus 50% in the uncontrolled group (p Conclusions: The neutrophilic inflammation was associated with worse control of severe asthma, as well as the presence of cytokines: IL1β, IL13, TNF and INF.
