Teratoma of the spinal cord in an adult: Report of a rare case and review of the literature.

•Teratomas of the spinal cord are extremely rare, representing 0.1–0.5% of all spinal cord tumors.•Presenting symptoms exhibit a slow, indolent progression based on tumor location.•Imaging is helpful for operative planning but diagnosis requires pathological specimens.•Treatment involves maximal surgical resection without injuring surrounding structures.•Prognosis is generally favorable and most patients have neurological improvement after surgery.
