Higher Order Absorbing Boundary Conditions Using Reverse Operation Self-Consistent Evaluation

A higher order absorbing boundary construction scheme using Reverse Operation Self-consistent Evaluation (R.O.S.E.) for vector finite element method (FEM) is presented in this paper. With the addition of higher order absorbing truncation, the accuracy of the full-wave simulation can be adjusted to the desired level while keeping the numerical calculations at minimum. This feature of the proposed method creates the bridge between First Order ABC and its more accurate but numerically expensive counterpart Boundary Element Method (BEM). The numerical examples validate the improved accuracy compared to First Order ABC at a lower cost than BEM.
