摘要
Traditional treatments for obesity have poor long-term outcomes. Currently, the most successful method of sustained weight loss is bariatric surgery. Despite the indisputable effectiveness of bariatric surgery, there remains significant inter-individual variability in the treatment response. The mechanisms by which these bariatric procedures lead to successful weight loss are only partially understood and are thought to include biological mechanisms that are subject to genetic variation. The aim of our study was to identify genetic predictors that may explain variation in weight loss efficacy following bariatric surgery.
