摘要
Due to their broad range of properties and excellent processability, Fe-based alloys are considered as potential biodegradable implant materials. In this study, Fe-30Mn-1C and novel microalloyed Fe-30Mn-1C-0.025S were prepared under fast solidification conditions leading to a fine grained austenitic matrix phase. Microalloying with S results in the formation of fine MnS precipitates, which was proven by electron backscatter diffraction. These precipitates cause a significantly increased yield and ultimate strength, also compared to clinical applied 316L, and a change in the initial corrosion mechanisms leading to an enhanced corrosion rate in simulated body fluid (SBF), which was assessed by electrochemical polarization tests.
