An Analytical Tool for Event Interaction in a Smart City

Participatory cities are those that citizens take part in the construction and improvement of their common daily life. The idea is that through a website page or an app people can record and view issues related to their city, such as high crime areas, commercial and industrial expansion areas, traffic, potholes, lighting, among others. The information is inserted and viewed on a city map. From these inputs data, a visualization and interaction schema are created. We utilized initially Voronoi Diagrams to calculate and visualize occurrences density. As a case study we choose criminal and police occurrences. The occurrences change the position in a city according to Voronoi Polygon size of the opposite event. For example, a criminal occurrence tends to go to large areas of police occurrences.
