摘要
Trachypithecus crepusculus had been considered a subspecies of Trachypithecus phayrei because of possible ancient hybridization, and was recently elevated to full species status. The conservation status of this species has not yet been assessed by the IUCN, but its previous taxonomic classification is listed as Endangered, due to a rapid population decline resulting from habitat loss and illegal hunting. In this study, we sequenced and characterized the complete mitochondrial genome of T. crepusculus . The entire mtDNA of this species, 16,552 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and one control region, was similar to those of other Trachypithecus in gene arrangement and composition. This work contributes to providing basic molecular data which is critical for further genetic research and conservation of this vulnerable species.
