Determinanten der Teilnahmebereitschaft an Allergietests bei Vorschulkindern

The goal of this analysis is to examine illness-associated selection bias which can exert an influence upon the participation in allergological examinations and thus on prevalence estimates of allergic diseases in children. We used data from a cross-sectional study of preschool children to investigate family-associated determinants of participation in the prick and patch test. Maternal occupational activity was associated with a reduced participation, whereas allergic diseases in the family were not consistently associated. However, increased point estimates suggest a slightly elevated participation of children whose family members suffer from allergic disease.
