An overview of the monitoring program design for the FutureGen 2.0 CO 2 storage site

•The FutureGen 2.0 Project evaluated, selected, and designed a suite of monitoring technologies for CCS in a deep saline reservoir.•The monitoring program design includes both direct and indirect monitoring of CO2 injection processes.•The monitoring program design adopts an adaptive monitoring strategy whereby the monitoring network is periodically modified as required.•The FutureGen 2.0 Project was suspended by the U.S. Department of Energy prior to implementation of the monitoring program design.
