Evaluation of the Antitumor Activity by Cordycepin with Gold Nanoparticle

Nanomaterials can enhance the delivery and treatment efficiency of anti-cancer drugs, and the tumor-reducing activity of gold nanoparticles with cordycepin has not been studied. So, our research was designed to examine the efficiency of the mixture to target cancer cells. Here we investigate the synergistic effects of gold nanoparticles with cordycepin on the induction of apoptosis using KA leukemia cells. Gold nanoparticles increased the ability of cordycepin to induce apoptosis in KA cells. To sum up, our study suggests that gold nanoparticles combined with cordycepin could serve as a better alternative for targeted therapeutic approaches to cancer treatments. It is a new perspective for the targeted therapeutic approaches of cancers. Gold nanoparticles with cordycepin complexes as X-ray contrast agents also have been developed for change of tumor morphology.
