Development of a reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay for the detection of vesicular stomatitis New Jersey virus: Use of rapid molecular assays to differentiate between vesicular disease viruses

•One-step VSNJV RT-LAMP assay was developed to detect VSNJV serotype.•RT-LAMP formats were developed for multiplex detection of FMDV, VSNJV and SVDV.•RT-LAMP assays can be visualised using simple molecular LFD’s.•RT-LAMP assays demonstrate analytical sensitivity concordant with rRT-PCR.•RT-LAMP assays can be conducted on clinical samples without RNA extraction.
