Three new 3-methyl-2-arylbenzofurans from the fermentation products of an endophytic fungus Phomopsis sp. and their anti-TMV activity

•Three new (1–3) and four known (4–7) arylbenzofurans were isolated.•Compounds 1–7 were evaluated for their anti-TMV and antibacterial activities.•Compound 3 exhibit high anti-TMV activities with inhibition rates of 35.2%.•All compounds do not exhibit antibacterial activities.
