Compact standing wave thermoacoustic generator for power conversion applications

•A compact standing wave thermoacoustic generator (TAG) is fabricated and demonstrated.•Design parameters have been optimized using novel design of tunable thermoacoustic engine.•Novel cold heat exchanger design for thermoacoustic engine (TAE) is introduced.•A high intensity acoustic pressure of 163.5dB has been achieved using optimized TAG.•The system was able to convert thermal energy into electrical energy.
