Paeonol produced by Chaetomium sp., an endophytic fungus isolated from Paeonia suffruticosa

A total of 57 strains of endophytic fungi were isolated from the medicinal plant Paeonia ostii, one isolated strain J1-2, originally from the stem of plant, was first found to produce paeonol (the main secondary metabolites of Paeonia suffruticosa). According to the morphological characteristics and the ITS information, the isolate J1-2 was identified as Chaetomium sp.
