Examining the efficacy of a computer facilitated HIV prevention tool in drug court

•High rates of drug use place criminal justice clients at an increased risk of contracting and transmitting HIV.•No HIV risk reduction interventions exist for the growing population of offenders diverted to community-based supervision.•This two-group RCT evaluated the efficacy of a three-session computerized HIV prevention intervention for drug court clients.•Results indicated that significantly more participants in the intervention group reported obtaining HIV testing.•Findings support the feasibility and efficacy of using a computerized intervention for increasing HIV testing in drug courts.
