•Development of a UFLC/Qq-TOF–MS/MS method to study metabolism of AHSYB in rats.•The metabolic profile of AHSYB was characterized in detail for the first time.•A total of 22 metabolites and 11 metabolic pathways were found in vivo.•The results provide essential data for understanding in vivo process of AHSYB and further study on it.
