摘要
The IEEE802.11 standard is evolving over more than two decades; offering higher transmission data rates and introducing new QoS features to support different user applications. Despite the introduction of higher data rates the QoS cannot be maintained uniformly in IEEE802.11 networks; particularly for very high data rate services such as video and high data rate interactive services involving realtime communications. In this work we propose a unique proportional resource allocation technique for the IEEE802.11ac network which can offer and maintain high QoS for data intensive applications as well as maintain fairness among all network users. The proposed algorithm identifies the congested terminals by measuring the normalized queue lengths and then offer them appropriate TXOP interval to increase the effective transmission capacity. The TXOP interval is adaptively adjusted to offer fair transmission opportunities to all terminals based on their QoS requirements, offered load and the backlog traffic. An NS3 based simulation model was developed to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm known as the POBPS (Proportion Opportunity Based Packet Scheduler). Simulation result shows that the POBPS algorithm significantly improve the QoS values of the IEEE802.11ac network compared to the standard MAC protocol.
