Fluorescent protein nanoparticles: Synthesis and recognition of cellular oxidation damage.

•Highly fluorescent PNPs were easily synthesized and fully characterized.•The fluorescence of the PNPs was derived from the three kinds of amino acids: tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylalanine.•The PNPs displayed excellent stabilities and good biocompatibility.•The PNPs could be utilized for recognition of cellular oxidation damage.
