Let k be a field, Lambda a finite-dimensional hereditary k-algebra, and mod the category of all finite-dimensional -modules. We are going to characterize the representation type of (tame or wild) in terms of the possible subcategories statM of all M-static modules, where M is an indecomposable Lambda-module.
