ParSec: Ein innovatives Funksystem für die Fertigungsautomation.

As part of "Industry 4.0" wireless communication networks are increasingly incorporated in industrial applications. However, up to now the requirements of factory automation applications, which are especially strict with respect to reliability and latency, are only partly covered by specific wireless technologies like WirelessHART or WSAN. In order to provide a wireless communication system for critical factory automation applications, the ParSec project investigates the promising parallel sequence spread spectrum (PSSS) approach. This article gives an overview of the ParSec system, its properties and scope. PSSS basics are explained and advantages regarding a flexible medium access and resource sharing are pointed out. The integration of the ParSec system into an existing Industrial Ethernet network is discussed.
