A Simplified Pwm Controller For Wireless Power Receiver Using A 3-Mode Reconfigurable Resonant Regulating Rectifier

A simplified pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller is proposed for the wireless power receiver using a 3-mode reconfigurable resonant regulating (R-3) rectifier. Compared to the existing controller, the proposed controller only needs one ramp generator to implement the 3-mode operation without sacrificing the performance of the receiver, which reduces the quiescent current and the silicon area of the controller. The receiver with the proposed controller is designed in a standard 0.35 mu m CMOS process, and simulation results confirmed that the 3-mode operation is successfully implemented and the receiver can achieve self-startup under different load conditions and smooth mode transition during load transients. By using the proposed controller, around 180 mu A quiescent current and 0.05 mm(2) silicon area can be saved.
