摘要
•Population-based studies on the association between glycemic status and fracture risk are scarce.•Elderly Japanese men with hyperglycemia had a higher fracture risk independently of confounders including insulin use.•Major osteoporotic fracture risk may be elevated in Japanese elderly men in the prediabetic category of hemoglobin A1c.•Previously reported J-shaped association between glycemic status and fracture risk was not observed in this population.
