Assisting The Configuration Of Intelligent Safety Gateway

Nowadays, Industrial Automated Control Systems (IACS) are experiencing a new revolution. Information Technology (IT) is ubiquitous down to the lowest level of the workshop. Their cyber-physical nature reveals previously isolated threats and vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities are used and new ones are discovered every day, they already target 50% of companies of which 77% are Small or Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Previous works underlined the interest of an intelligent gateway to detect bad behavior, consequences of attacks that could threaten the integrity of a system. The detection is based on rules, Safety of Operation (SoO), firstly established on all the variables of production equipment and then checks on these sets of variable captured on the field network. To facilitate the implementation of such a gateway, the paper proposes a method to help the designer in his configuration. This method is part of a previous design flow with a component-based-approach. In this article we describe the design flow globally, our extension, a reference model for the gateway and steps to perform the generation, as well as integration of the configuration file with the SOO rules, which are validated by a demonstrator.
