e17673 Background: Hair loss is a distressing side effect of chemotherapy. We conducted a national survey to evaluate the effects of chemotherapy on change in appearance and the status of support for breast cancer patients. Here, we analyzed the long-term rate of hair recovery after chemotherapeutic regimens. Methods: Questionnaires were sent to domestic hospitals, distributed to patients by doctors in their outpatient clinics, and then mailed directly to the data center. The content included changes in their appearance (hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, nail, and skin) and the status of their support. Inclusion criteria were breast cancer patients without signs of recurrence who had received pre- or post-operative chemotherapy within 5 years, and were limited to the combination of following chemotherapeutic regimens: anthracycline + cyclophosphamide +/- 5-FU (AC), weekly paclitaxel (P), or docetaxel (D) every 3 weeks.
