摘要
Purpose of Review We consider the evidence for Internet gaming disorder as a primary or a secondary disorder. Recent Findings Findings in this area are mixed. Although it is generally acknowledged that IGD is frequently comorbid with other disorders, there is a disagreement as to whether IGD does or does not appear as a primary disease. Summary The question of IGD as a primary or secondary disorder is founded on a presumption of dichotomy. To declare it as belonging in one category or another implies a presumption that it cannot be both. The literature does not place it clearly in either position. IGD is likely best conceptualized as a disorder that can be comorbid or multimorbid, similar to many other mental health disorders.
