•Crash Modification Factors (CMFs) for bicycle crashes were developed for different urban roadway segment and intersection facility types.•Zero Inflated Negative Binomial (ZINB) models were used.•The safety impacts of roadway and traffic characteristics, bicycle infrastructure, and bicycle activity on bicycle crashes were estimated.•The impact of bicycle activity on bicycle CMFs was investigated.
