Schizophrenia patients are impaired in recognition task but more for intentionality than physical causality

•Patients with schizophrenia have a deficit in ToM and in memory tasks.•This might be due to a deficit of early visual attention or a high-level process.•By using a rapid attentional cue, we made relevant areas of a material more salient.•Attentional cueing had no effect on recollection.•However, patients are impaired more for intentionality than physical causality.
