摘要

•Transcutaneous immunization (TCI), a needle-free route was used to deliver Leishmania antigens.•TCI resulted in high antibody response to both antigens and adjuvant and a Th1 type cellular response.•TCI with SLA/CT was associated with exacerbation of disease after parasite challenge.•Decreased inducible nitric oxide synthase staining was associated with exacerbation.
