Preliminary investigation of whole-pancreas 3D histogram ADC metrics for predicting progression of acute pancreatitis.

•Baseline 3D whole-pancreas histogram ADC metrics were measured in acute pancreatitis.•Trend toward higher kurtosis in patients with new complications from pancreatitis.•Conventional mean ADC was similar in the two groups.•Kurtosis had highest AUC at 0.784, with sensitivity of 75% and specificity of 92%.•Findings suggest ADC metrics guide intensity of monitoring/intervention in pancreatitis.
