Differentially expressed genes after viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus infection in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus).

•Completion of genome sequence of the newly isolated VHSV strain, which is associated with high mortality rates in cultured olive flounder (P. olivaceus).•FP-VHS2010-1 isolate is highly pathogenic in flounder and the mortality decreases as fish body weight increases.•IFI56, SOCS1, IL-8, CD83, HBA, VHSV6, and CD9 transcripts were induced at the highest levels in response to VHSV infection.
