Fatal echinococcosis in three lemurs in the United Kingdom--A case series.

•Echinococcosis is of global public health importance and emerging or re-emerging.•This is the first in depth report of E. ortleppi and E. equinus deaths in UK lemurs.•We identify a need to enhance awareness and surveillance efforts of this disease.•Preventive measures include good hygiene and avoidance of contact with host faeces.
