Alcohol consumption and lung cancer risk: A pooled analysis from the International Lung Cancer Consortium and the SYNERGY study.

•Pooled analysis of alcohol consumption and lung cancer risk from 21 case-control studies and 1 cohort study.•Largest investigation subgroup analyses by histology and smoking groups to date.•Observed a non-linear association between total alcohol intake and risk.•This J-shaped association was most prominent for squamous cell carcinoma.•Sensitivity analyses showed no confounding by occupational exposures or lung diseases.
