Combining trait and state model systems of psychosis: The effect of sleep deprivation on cognitive functions in schizotypal individuals.

•In this study, we examined the sleep deprivation and schizotypy models of psychosis.•Sleep deprivation lowered the accuracy in the go/nogo and n-back tasks.•No effects of sleep deprivation were found for the Continuous Performance Test, the California Verbal Learning Test, the Tower of London task and the Regensburger Wortflüssigkeitstest.•Cognitive task performance did not differ between high and low schizotypy.•The effects of sleep deprivation were independent of level of schizotypy.
