摘要
•Mice showed neurobehavioral disturbances during the behavioral testing after T. gondii infection.•Histopathology revealed the activation of astrocytes and microglia, apoptosis of neurons and decreases in synapses in the brain sections of T. gondii infected mice.•Activation of NF-κB signaling pathways induced by the over productions of cytokines and chemokines were detected in the brain sections.•Excessive activation of inflammation in the brain and dysregulation of the neurotransmitters could potentially explain the neurobehavioral disorders in the infected hosts.
