Prolonged coma in a scrub typhus patient.

•The disease entity of scrub typhus in the central nervous system is unclear.•We report the case of a patient with scrub typhus encephalitis manifesting as a 3-week deep coma.•Neuroimaging showed symmetrical, multifocal, and hyperintense white matter lesions.•The patient returned to consciousness after anti-rickettsial treatment.
