Influence of the symbiont Wolbachia on life history traits of the cabbage root fly (Delia radicum).

•Wolbachia infection was maternally transmitted to 100% of the offspring in this Delia radicum strain.•Wolbachia significantly reduced hatch rate in infected eggs.•Development time from egg to adult is longer for individuals carrying Wolbachia.•Stressed females infected with Wolbachia have a lower survival when laying eggs.•No evidence of reproductive manipulation was found in this Delia radicum strain.
