•Pyridazine derivatives increase EAAT2 protein expression specifically in perisynaptic astrocytic processes.•EAAT2 and other proteins are locally synthesized in perisynaptic astrocytic processes in response to pyridazine derivatives.•Pyridazine derivative treatment enhances plasticity of the tripartite synapse in the hippocampal circuit.
