Different histological components of heterogeneous bladder cancer tumors may exhibit divergent expression profiles, complicating interpretation of expression-based molecular subtypes assessed in bulk tumor specimens. This presents important considerations for potential precision medicine applications of current molecular subtypes, warranting further study.
