Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for Large Primary Renal Cell Carcinoma

Nephrectomy is the standard of care for patients with nonmetastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). For nonsurgical candidates, alternative options such as cryotherapy and radiofrequency ablation result in suboptimal disease control especially for tumors > 3.5 to 4 cm. This report suggests that stereotactic body radiotherapy might play a role as a treatment option for patients who are unfit for surgery with nonmetastatic RCC > 4 cm. (C) 2017 Elsevier Inc.
