•ASAP1-IT1 is upregulated in CCA tissues and cells.•Knockdown of ASAP1-IT1 impedes cell proliferation, cell migration and EMT progress in CCA.•ASAP1-IT1 activates hedgehog pathway through upregulating Smo and Gli1.•ASAP1-IT1 improves CCA progression through activating hedgehog signaling pathway.
