Clinical characteristics of Spirocerca lupi migration in the spinal cord.

•Intraspinal Spirocerca lupi (ISSL) was diagnosed definitively post-mortem in 10 dogs.•All dogs suffered a sudden onset of acute asymmetric paresis accompanied by pain.•Eosinophils (10/10) and pleocytosis (8/10) were detected in the cerebrospinal fluid.•Advanced imaging excluded spinal cord compression in all dogs examined.•This combination of findings may prompt a tentative ISSL diagnosis in endemic areas.
