External closed-circuit cooling system for management of patients after device implantation: A feasibility study

•To reduce the occurrence of hematoma and pain after pacemaker or cardiac implantable devices an external close-circuit cooling system is proposed.•Both the compressive and cooling effect of the system were well tolerated by all the patients•At discharge and at 1month follow-up, the surgical wound and pocket had no problem, in particular we did not observe any relevant pocket hematoma•The CARAPACE system is proposed to reduce the occurrence of hematoma and pain after cardiac devices implantation.
