•We evaluated by ELISA of the titers of anti-NMDA-R antibodies in PPATs.•There was a strong correlation between anti-NR1 and anti-NR2B antibodies in the CSF.•There was some correlation between anti-NR1 and anti-NR2B antibodies in the serum.•Hallucinations were related to high titers of anti-NR2B antibodies in the serum.•Anxiety were related to high titers of anti-NR1 antibodies in the serum.
